We are open year round for tours, educational opportunities, and participation in planting and harvest activities during the growing season. We are a production vineyard, nestled at the edge of the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills. Located on our farm that has been in our family for over 100 years. We are a Kansas Agritourism member and a member of the local Coffey County Chamber of Commerce. All of o

ur grapes are grown on property and then sold to various Kansas wineries. We no longer make our own wine, but still offer opportunities for scheduled events and stays in our onsite barndominium. We are open year round, but our winter hours vary, so please call to ensure we are availble for tours to visit the property. We grow five varieties of wine grapes in our vineyard, Chambourcin (Kansas state grape), Vidal Blanc, Marquette, Frontenac, and Itasca. We offer educational tours and visits to explain grape growing and harvesting processes to interested groups. We can also offer wine sensory experiences and lodging for additional costs.

The vineyard is taking shape this spring. Many varieties have flowered early. Cindy & Matt have been busy spraying early season fungicide, removing suckers from the vines, along with w**d control and taping & training. Our vineyard doggo, Cake, has been keeping the vineyard free from anything that scares him and swimming regularly in the lake. Our engineers have been tuning up our solar array, that brings power to our vineyard shop and repairing a broken shifter column cylinder on one of the trucks. Things are hopping....

Planted over 100 vines today. Added Frontenac and Itasca, along with table grapes. We drill holes, set the vines, add rich soil, place a shelter and bamboo, attach to top trellis wire, then finish by watering in. All planting is monitored and inspected by Matt's doggo, Cake.

Completed the fine tuning on our Jacto air blast sprayer, lovingly nicknamed, "Jack". It's ready to go for our first fungicide spray next week! This marks the full cycle of the complete rebuild and restoration of this used sprayer that should provide many years of solid service.

Pruning is completely done for this season. We have beautiful bud break in 3 of our 5 varieties, with buds swelling in the other 2. Yesterday was spent putting down the remaining Spring fertilizer to take advantage of the coming rain. Matthew, new vineyard rescue pup, "Cake", was on hand to help out.

Those sneaky Bobwhite Vines engineers are at it again. They took the leftover components from two older and non-functioning sprayers, combined the working parts, applied them to a pallet and created a lovely sprayer that can be used for larger scale herbicide applications in the outlying areas of the farm and home. In addition, this will make a nifty fire guarding unit for pasture and brush pile burning. I wish I was as smart as our engineering team.

Cindy & Matt have been slamming on the vineyard pruning. It's cold work, but crucial for vine health and quality fruit production. Meanwhile the vineyard engineering team has been busy reconditioning a used air blast sprayer. This included rebuilding the piston pump, replacing all hose lines, and converting from manual valve controls to electric, which can be controlled from the tractor cab. We're all ready for Spring to arrive.
