Lauren and Ryan went back and forth about whether they wanted to incorporate a short post-ceremony cruise into their wedding day schedule. Ultimately, based on my recommendation that it would be a special and intimate moment for them to share together, they decided to go ahead with the idea. They spent only 30 minutes on the water but later told me it was one of their favorite parts of the day; one in which they truly got to be present with one another.

Your wedding is most definitely about creating a memorable experience for your guests, but don’t lose sight of the fact that the day is also completely about you and your journey as a couple. Be sure to take a few moments together to honor your partner, your journey, and your future; and to let the magnitude of this next step really soak in.

Whether it’s a boat ride, a short walk at sunset, or a few minutes sitting alone somewhere, I promise you won’t regret it. .
