When you can’t just make one or send a naked envelope and also have to add the scrap pieces. I’m thinking of selling cards again in the local art shop. Do you sell your cards and what is the going rate for a handmade artisan card these days? What would you pay for a beautiful handmade card?

✂️📏 BEGINNER BESTIES — THIS ONE’S FOR YOU! 💕

We’ve been doing some pretty fancy folds around here lately, but today we’re getting back to one of the MOST important card-making basics:

MEASURE & CUT! 📐✂️

Because before we can make the fancy cards… we have to figure out what in the world all those little lines on the paper trimmer mean. 😂🙋‍♀️

I put together this beginner-friendly guide to help you understand some of the measurements you’ll see ALL THE TIME in card making and how to cut your patterned paper so you get those pretty, even layers.

✨ One of my favorite beginner tips:
Measure the panel you want to cover, then cut your patterned paper ¼” smaller in both directions. That gives you an easy ⅛” border all the way around without having to do any complicated math!

Save this graphic. Screenshot it. Keep it next to your paper trimmer. Whatever helps! 💕

And please remember—you do NOT have to learn everything at once. Every crafter you see making those crazy fun folds started right here… learning how to measure, cut and score a basic piece of cardstock.

We’re building those crafty skills one little line at a time, Besties! 🥰✂️

💕 This one is for my beginner Besties! 💕

I know we’ve been having a LOT of fun lately with fancy folds, pop-ups, moving pieces and cards that make us say, “Wait…how did she DO that?!” 😂

But I don’t ever want my newer crafters to feel like they have to start there.

So I created this little resource just for YOU. 🥰

We’re going back to the basics and starting with ONE size piece of cardstock — 8½” x 5½” — and looking at some different card styles you can create from it.

Same piece of paper. ✂️
Different scores, folds and orientations.
Multiple card possibilities! 🙌

Learning how your cardstock works is one of those little things that can make card making feel SO much less overwhelming. Once you understand the basics, you can start playing, experimenting and eventually turn those simple folds into all kinds of fun cards.

And Besties… there is absolutely nothing wrong with a classic card! ❤️ Some of my favorite cards are the simplest ones.

Whether you opened your first pack of cardstock yesterday or you’ve been crafting for years and just want a handy reference, save this one to keep in your crafty toolbox. ✂️📐💕

We’ll keep making those crazy fun folds too… but we’re bringing our new Besties along for the ride! 🥰

My passion is about making that special gift for the someone special. It’s what motivates me the most. My coworker asked for a card for her granddaughter going back to school and now I’m on a mission. Grateful for the moments where I can share my purpose 🥰🌞🫶🏻
