We've got some new Tiny Tenants! 🐢
This mama snapping turtle just finished laying her eggs on the property.
For the most part, we're going to let nature run its course. Hopefully, the raccoons won't find the nest. To keep her nursery a little safer since its near a walkway, we may set up some boundary posts to alert our guests. Mama has already headed back to the river and won't be returning, so guests don't need to look out for her. However, in a few months, her babies will hatch and head straight for the water just a few yards away!
If you're staying with us when they hatch, please give them a clear path to the river. And a quick heads up: even tiny snappers can bite, so it’s best to cheer them on from a safe distance. We love getting to share this slice of nature with our guests! 🌲🌊
