Yesterday we checked another section of the LVRT off our list, riding from Hardwick to Greensboro. It was a little over 16 miles roundtrip. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful and there was no rush because there was nowhere else that either of us needed to be.

I’m down to just two more sections before I can say that I’ve ridden the entire thing. I’m on vacation this week so maybe, if the weather cooperates, I’ll get back out there and finish it.

A couple of nights at Little River State Park, and it felt like we got to camp in two places at once.

The campground was beautiful and private, but what made the trip especially interesting was venturing up to the old Ricker Farm and cemetery.

There’s something surreal about walking through the woods and coming across the remains of homes, stone foundations, old cellar holes and, eventually, graves belonging to the people who once called this place home.

It’s wild to see how much remains, even after the forest has slowly taken everything back. Vermont State Parks
