Located a 20 min drive from the hotel is one of the oldest lakes in North America, Mono Lake. The famous "Tufa" Towers are formed due to the interaction between the fresh water springs from the Sierras and the alkaline lake water which is 2.5x as salty as the ocean. We highly recommend visiting for photography, bird watching and the occasional swim if you are so inclined!

June Lake Ski Resort recently made the New York Times! The article discusses with the rise of Covid, backcountry skiing & snowboarding has become increasingly popular.

"June Mountain, a small ski resort a half-hour from Mammoth Lakes, may be “the best lift-accessed backcountry ski area in the U.S. that no one’s heard about."

The pandemic has many people wanting to avoid crowded slopes. Going into the backcountry requires avalanche knowledge or a guide. Here are suggestions for taking part across the United States.

One of the most frequent requests we received was to bring back the fire pits to the outdoor areas at our hotel. With this in mind we currently have 3 gas powered fire pits that are hard lined for guests to enjoy. Our hope is that it will be a space for families & friends to disconnect after a long day enjoying the lake or nearby hikes 🔥☺️

Hope everyone is enjoying the change in seasons. A update, the nearby June Lake Ski Resort is opening up on Dec. 19th with enhacements in place to ensure guests can ski safely due to Covid. Also one of the great things about June Lake is that kids under the age of 12 can ski for free.
