I'm a Jupiteridian

I'm a Jupiteridian Jupiteridian. (joo-pi-ter-id-e-uhn) In 1992 on a crazy 60 hour trip to NYC with a bunch of Hairdresser friends, we attended an Off- Broadway musical.

"Return to the Forbidden Planet". One of the actors was handing out Dramamine (tic-tacs) to the audience, he approached our group and asked "What planet did you fly in from?".. "JUPITER" we said, "JUPITER FLORIDA"
"Ahhhh, I see" he said...

Dubois Picnic Park! Sometime in the 1930’s and beyond. The dog looks like it’s been fishing! The DuBois collected $$ until the park was sold in 1971! $1 per car, and when the park was full(as seen in photos) they closed the gates! Rumor has it that friends and “special” people entered, no charge!

Did you know that the hurricane of 1928 led to the construction of the Jupiter Log Cabin, known today as Jupiter Civic Center? The Okeechobee hurricane destroyed the beach pavilion, located at the end of Jupiter Beach Rd. In 1933 on county donated land to the TOJ the Log Cabin was built. Used for public beach access it doubled as restaurants, tourist camp, and the in the mid 40’s the office of the naval radio station! In 1957 it was renamed Jupiter Civic Center. It’s a Jupiteridian’s right of passage to have partied there for keggers, weddings, birthdays etc…

Can anyone remember any of the names of the old businesses that occupied the buildings that are still standing on Indiantown Rd. between Military Trail and Old Dixie Hwy? I’ll go first, Mr. Sportsman!

In 1974, the Sand Dollar, known for its revolving bar, opened on US1 at Indiantown Road. In 1982, it was remodeled, the revolving bar was removed, and it was renamed Cahoots, a country bar with a mechanical bull. In 1985, the bar was remodeled again, the revolving bar was resurrected, and it reopened as Banana Max. In 1992, it became Jox, then Brio Beach Club. Brio closed sometime in the late 1990s; the building was then demolished in 2013 to make way for Harborside Place, which opened in 2014.

Clinton Pinder along with his wife Dorothy, and two of Clinton's brothers, founded Pinder’s Seafood on the waterfront of what is now Sawfish Bay Park in Jupiter. In 1965 they relocated the market to its current location on Old Dixie Highway Tequesta. A couple I met reconized their dad in the pic and said the truck was a 70’s model. Also that this location was still used as a drop-off/pick-up for local fishermen and sellers after the store moved. Any info on this would be kindly appreciated!

I have shown this photo in a previous post and there is a lot going on here!
A well dressed man and woman, the man is, I assume not a driver because there is a passenger in the front seat of the 1958 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. He is possibly dropping his wife/daughter at the depot, a luggage cart, the wheels look like they are made for RR tracks, and 3 dudes on horseback, one waving for the photographer! This pic is probably 69 or 70 years old! My questions are:
Was the luggage cart horse drawn or pulled by a truck/car?
Are the 3 dudes on horseback picking up or dropping off people at the train depot?
And if not did the 3 dudes on horseback “go on up to the depot” to hang out to look at well dressed people?
Did the horsemen ride up to Bowers to get beer and supplies on the way to the inlet?
Was this the only Ford Thunderbird Convertible in town?
Does anyone know the people in this photo or know what happened to this really cool Thunderbird?
