Ten years ago, SnoYak was just an idea.
After seeing people sliding down mountains in modified whitewater kayaks, our founder, Rob knew there had to be a better way — something more stable, more intuitive, and more fun. With a vision of gliding down the mountain while kneeling upright and balanced, the journey began.
The first prototype was built in a small workshop in 2016. What followed were years of testing, rebuilding, refining, and relentless problem-solving.
Long before a product was sold, patents were filed, designs evolved, and countless hours were spent on snow turning an idea into reality.
The company was formed in 2016.
The first commercial sale didn’t happen until 2023.
Seven years of self-funded research and development.
Ten years of persistence.
Today, SnoYak riders are carving turns across North America, Europe, and New Zealand — including veterans, adaptive athletes, kids, and lifelong skiers who thought their mountain days were behind them.
One idea. One decade of work.
And we’re just getting started.
