Celebrated my 50th with my favorite people in my favorite places over the last couple of months, including the Disney World parks AND Disneyland, Universal Orlando- Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Epic, and Sea World, before having a quiet day with the fam on my actual birthday/Easter Sunday, when my 16 yo daughter surprised me with a Rapunzel birthday cake she made!

DON’T MAKE THIS MISTAKE on your vacation! Does your Florida Airbnb pool have a screened cage around it?

When you bring your virgin-white winter skin 👀 to play for spring break for the first ☀️ sunshine of the year, YOU WANT A POOL SCREEN over the pool! 😣

*Neither girls had sunscreen🧴on*

My girls both worked in the backyard of our Airbnb for several hours, but my lighter, FAIR-skinned daughter Linnea, worked inside of the screened lanai, and is developing a gorgeous tan today. Elsie, who naturally has more color and deeper, olive-skin coloring, worked for the same amount of time, just a few feet away, but she was outside the pool cage. And at 16 years old, this is her FIRST sunburn 🥵! Poor girl; she’s in pain tonight, and her 1st degree burned, damaged skin is definitely going to peel after a few days.

If you don’t know, pool screens block most UVB rays (which are those that cause sunburn). UVA rays are the ones that contribute to gradual and healthier skin tanning, and most of these still pass through the screens! So the great news is that only people with severely sensitive skin ever need sunscreen under the pool cages at our vacation rentals!

Some vacation rental neighborhoods in this Disney area DON’T have screened pools, (also referred to as a screened lanai or Florida room), and we think it’s CRAZY!

Additionally, pool screens keep out mosquitoes 🦟 and creepy critters 🐍🐀 🐿️, and yucky debris. 🍂
