After conversations with Foreword and Sever the Wicked, we’ve collectively decided that the best move is to postpone this Friday’s Louisiana LOUD show at The Pit at EPIC and work toward a better date in the future.
Sometimes supporting a music scene means knowing when to play a show and sometimes it means showing up simply to be part of the music scene.
Instead of taking the weekend off, I’ll be bringing the guys from Foreword (they are from San Antonio) out to Feed N Seed Friday night to catch Claymore, Course of Action, Tanto, Embroiled, and LessFaith, meet some people, make some connections, and experience a little Acadiana hospitality.
For years, I’ve said one of the best ways for a band to work its way into a new music scene is to invest in that scene before asking the scene to invest in them. Go to shows. Meet the bands. Meet the promoters. Support the venues. Become part of the music landscape.
That’s what Friday will be about.
Hopefully, this can also encourage other bands to use those occasional open weekends to venture outside their own markets, support another scene, build genuine relationships, and potentially open the door to future opportunities.
We appreciate everyone who supported the original Louisiana LOUD date, and we look forward to finding the right opportunity to bring Foreword and Sever the Wicked to The Pit in the future.
Until then, we’ll see you out supporting live music here in Acadiana Friday night.
