Several of you have reached out asking what is going on with our property… when are we building, what’s the ETA for our cabin, all the things… so I thought it was time to give an update. ❤️

What started out last year as a delay due to construction prices rising, turned into the need to jump through a bunch of financing hoops as well as an unfixed construction bid due to an unstable economy. In our guts we knew we needed to pump the breaks. 💔

We prayed and asked God for wisdom and discernment on what to do with this gift of this land. How could we use it for our good and for His glory?

While we waited for an answer, we spent time planting a garden, camping, playing kickball in the sunset, climbing trees, deer scouting, loving on our bees as they made honey, harvesting vegetables, sitting, reading, praying, HEALING and so much more. ❤️‍🩹

And God answered. He in His perfect way, filled our hearts with peace as we decided to set aside our vision for a getaway cabin for couples (though we still LOVE that idea and can point you to a few favorites if you want to visit them) and told us to just ENJOY the land.

We still aren’t 100% sure what the final will look like or be. But we are confident that God knows. His plans are always good and perfect. And we trust Him.

As we left the land tonight with our bounty of sweet corn, zucchini, cucumbers, and pumpkins, I got a little teary 🥹 just thinking abt this place.

How He knew… of course, that this place was exactly what we needed three years ago when we bought it. We had a completely different vision… but He knew. ❤️

So, for now, you’ll find us out here almost nightly in bare feet or boots, soaking up the goodness of Creation. Thanking God that He knows exactly what we need, how we need it, and when. ❤️

🤩Happy New Year! 🤩

Well… as we reflect on 2021, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t a little disappointed that our vision hasn’t taken the shape of a building yet… 😆

As we navigated through COVID, rising building costs, changing builders, banks, and even blueprints a bit, we knew that it just didn’t feel right to break ground just yet. With hope, though, we enter 2022 with fresh eyes, open minds, and excited hearts as we prep again to get this sweet dream of ours formed into a structure and prayerfully open for you THIS YEAR! We cannot wait for you to enjoy this precious piece of our property that we’ve been entrusted with. ❤️

In 2021 we were blessed to be able to get our ground cleared, driveway put in, shed placed, honeybees moved in, Apple trees planted, and we spent hundreds of hours enjoying this beautiful slice of Heaven on Earth. 😍 We can say with 100% certainty that God gifted our family with this property in 2021, to come to as a personal respite space. A place of quiet, fresh air, beauty, and nature where we feel closest to God. With all the 2021 brought to the table… this land was a precious gift from the Lord where we could come and get away. ❤️ Which is exactly what we want for you, too. 🙏🏼

Though we feel like we are certainly baby stepping, we trust that God is faithful to lead us exactly how He wants and when He wants. We entered into this thing in obedience and we will continue to walk in obedience trusting in His perfect timing. ❤️

So, all that to say… thanks for hanging in here with us. We are still here. Still working. Still praying and leaning in, preparing a space for you. And we CANNOT WAIT to share it.

I prayed for you tonight. 🙏🏼

For those of you who will eventually come here. For the divine timing of your stay. For the sacred moments that you will spend here. For the memories that you will make. For the true rest that will fulfill your tired spirit and offload your weary soul.

I prayed that as you walk through the woods, along the creek, next to the wildflowers and tall grasses…
As you hear the sounds of birds, and insects, and animals, and wind blowing through the trees…
As you see the rich colors of the flowers, trees, sunsets and sunrises…

May you be reminded of how loved and cherished you are, for as your Creator intentionally and specifically created all these beautiful things…

…He also created you. ❤️🙏🏼

We’ve been working on finalizing our construction loan/building permit and excited to start this ball rolling on building SOOON!!!
Would you pray with us as we finalize paperwork and wait for approvals/appraisals, etc! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️

Meanwhile, we prepped a couple of spots where we will get some concrete pads poured this week so we can get a small shed out here at the property! 😍

Saw a few of these Wolly Worms around today! Fall is near! 🍂🐛

We worked hard today! Teamwork makes the dream work! 🤩😍😘

Summer Update:
We unexpectedly had to switch builders after some unforeseen costs arose with our previous builder. However, we are super excited about the plans ahead and feel like this was definitely a God thing. Our new contractor came and visited the property and loves it just as much as we do. While out there, he was telling us where the logs for our cabin will come from... milled and cut and packed up in Wisconsin- which happened to be on our way up to our annual Minnesota vacation spot. We were blessed to be able to stop by the sawmill and meet some of the men who will be assembling our logs for us and sending them down to Indiana in a couple of months! What a cool experience! 🤩

Happy Friday!! 🥳

The Little Apple/Pear Orchard is going strong 😍 We’ve been making frequent trips out here to make sure they stay watered! 💧

Next year we may add some of our beehives 🐝 to help with pollination in hopes to get a good little harvest in the near future!

Can’t wait for our guests to enjoy some delicious fruit from these trees!

They leveled off the drive coming in from the road which will be so helpful to see oncoming traffic, but also removed the steep incline here that was hard to get up in the winter! 😍
