Efforts are underway to bring a regatta back to San Felipe later this year. See the forwarded message below, with a link to an interest survey...

Please fill out this survey to provide input to whether you would be interested in attending a multihull regatta in San Felipe, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez in November 2026. There is a tourism group attempting to revive sailing in San Felipe who will have a planning meeting the weekend of April 27-29, 2026. San Felipe is about a 4.5 to 5 hour drive from San Diego driving east on I-8 crossing the border at Mexicali and then heading south on Mexico Route 5.

Please respond right away and no later than Tuesday, April 24 at midnight. The survey takes about 5 minutes. Please respond even if you do not want to participate so we know who is not interested.

Here’s the story I mentioned at trophies about the original San Diego Classic being held in Mission Bay, not San Diego Bay, which makes this year’s MBYC Catfight event a homecoming of sorts, and most definitely Classic. This is from 1974, which by our count was the 2nd annual. If you click through and scroll down to the results, John Hauser took 2nd in 16B.

In place of the San Diego Classic this year, we've added the Catfight 2 regatta hosted by Mission Bay Yacht Club as a Division 2 points regatta on June 8th and 9th. RV and tent camping is available at Campland on the Bay, a 3-mile drive away - technically you can launch and sail from there too, but it may not be practical to make it to the races on time. Backup camping is also available at Mission Bay RV Resort. Stay tuned for more details.

YEAH!! We have another fun regatta date added to our 2022 Division 2 calendar. None other than the 50th Anniversary San Diego Classic Regatta over Fathers Day Weekend. The initial thoughts are that launching will be off the J Street Ramp with dry camping in that dirt lot. There are also full service RV parks in the area, just a short bike ride/walk away. The NOR is being written and more details will be posted soon. Mark your calendars for this event. Mr. John Williams will be the PRO so we know it will be a well run and well attended event. Fleet 4 always does a great job with fun on the water and more fun on shore. :-)
