A Guest Room That Feels Like a Vacation

For this Hawaiian retreat, we embraced the island's natural beauty with a palette of warm sand tones, rich wood accents, and layers of organic texture. The grasscloth wallcovering adds depth and warmth, while the dark wood trim grounds the space with timeless sophistication.

Every detail was selected to evoke the feeling of a luxury resort:
Natural textures that bring the outdoors in.

Color Drenching: The Designer Secret That Makes a Room Feel Bigger

One of our favorite design techniques right now is color drenching—painting the walls, trim, and ceiling the exact same color.

The result? The room stops feeling boxy and starts feeling beautifully wrapped in color.

When your eye isn't interrupted by contrasting trim or a bright white ceiling, the architectural lines soften, the ceiling feels higher, and the entire space becomes more cohesive, sophisticated, and calming.

Here's our favorite way to achieve the look:

• Paint the walls in an eggshell finish for a soft, velvety appearance.
• Use the same color on the trim in a satin finish. The slight sheen catches the light just enough to highlight the craftsmanship without creating harsh contrast.
• Continue the same color onto the ceiling to create an immersive, luxurious feel.

Meet our hardest-working team member... although we're still not convinced she actually reads the blueprints.

From supervising fabric selections to quality-checking every sofa (with a nap, of course), Mochi takes her role at Knudson Interiors very seriously. Her daily schedule includes:

Morning coffee meeting (for moral support only)
Inspecting floor plans
Testing furniture for maximum comfort
Greeting every delivery with enthusiasm
Strategic afternoon power nap
End-of-day walk-through to make sure everything is perfect

Some may call it a dog's life—we call it exceptional project management.
