MDC announces initial plan for Missouri elk hunting
Limited season for Missouri residents could start as soon as 2020 if plan criteria are met.
Some of my favorite trail camera photos show up at this time of year.
I love how the deer stops to watch what they're doing.
I love Spring strutting!
Very interesting article.
Montana's Hayhook Ranch has been family-run since 1959. Sky Anderson grew up on the ranch, and so did his two boys. They have watched the land change, families move in and move out, and critters of all types come and go. The ranching business, at least to the Andersons, is definitely personal.
Turkey-palooza 2019 is only two weeks away!
Two more weeks!!!
Permission granted 😂
If we (hunters) held press conferences after hunts like sports athletes.

Let's hope they're right.
A doctor at LSU says a cure for CWD has been found. Is it legit, and will he get the support to make it happen?
Wow! Beautiful buck!
Check out this video of a deer and two turkeys playing in the snow. This was taken at Floyds Knobs in southern Indiana. ❄️🦃🦌🦃
What kind of complete douche do you have to be to do this. Please catch these oxygen thieves.
These are the fourth and fifth elk poaching cases since the restoration in 2011.
Pays to Have Good Friends :-)
Post rut feeding time. I will take this as a thumbs-up on my food plot mix.
Congratulations to Joe Kibe on a beautiful old 11 point buck taken here at the lodge!
Final "Coffin Corner" pics
Mr. Krabs is moving in daylight
Final trip into the woods before Opening Day of Rifle Season. Final card pull. This guy is hanging out on the new "bootheel" trail cut this Spring.
The younger bucks are running around all hours of the day now, as well as having "tests of manhood." The big boys are moving regularly up to the fringes of legal light...shouldn't be long now!
Found a decent scrape at the edge of the woods this morning and had to pull the card to see who made it.
The rub tree is up in the bottom field food plot and it is already reaping rewards.
Almost a year to the day...Diamond Dave is back and a little wider than last year.
We recently researched how fast a deer could duck when an arrow is shot at it. The results were eye opening and changed the way we hunt!
This guy needs to go! There will be an award for the customer that harvests one of these guys. #photooftheday #monster #hunting #whitetail #missouribuck #mondaymotivation #love #instagood #tbt #getoutside #hunting #outdoors #outdoor #trailcamera #trailcam #gamecamera #trailcamology #deerhunting #whitetail #buck #whitetailbucks #bigbuck #whitetaildeer#whitetaildeerhunting #picoftheday #bobcat #predator #predators
Many hunters want to know, “what are the triggers that make mature bucks get up and move during legal hunting hours?” This way we can maximize our hunting time and we don’t need to burn our pristine hunting locations when the odds aren’t in our favor. The problem is there are many influences...
Pulled 3 of the 5 cameras yesterday. It looks like Mr. Krabs is starting to hang around quite regularly in the evenings. Cull-en Bohannon has been around less frequently, and no Ri or Diamond Dave sightings this week.
In the stand the other day and twin 4-5 month olds come be-bopping down the trail towards me from behind my stand (down wind). They clearly had not a care in the world, as they walked right under my stand and proceeded to eat about ten yards in front of me. I started looking around for mom and sure enough she was still standing on the trail about 20 yards behind my stand with her nose in the air. Naturally, she smelled me and started blowing and stomping her hoof in the mud for her kids to leave the area. They stopped for a second, turned and looked at her, then ignored her and went back to eating as she continued to stand there stomping and blowing. I decided that this is scientific proof that deer go through their "teenage" years at 4-5 months.
The latest and greatest from the trailcams. Mr. Krabs is definitely making his rounds. He would be a beautiful buck to harvest this year. Diamond Dave and Rye are also back this year. Unfortunately so is Cull-en Bohannon, who needs to be harvested before he creates any more mangle-racked bucks. It's shaping up into a promising season here at Williams Lodge.
Good luck to all Missourians in the woods with their stick and string this morning. Happy Opening Day!!!
The latest from the trailcams. Bucks pics have been slow lately as bachelor groups are already breaking up.
From a biblical perspective, we went from wandering in the desert for two months to building an ark.
Many tri-states drivers had to take a detour Wednesday morning due to flash flooding on several roads.
The latest from the trail cams. Looks like we had another great hatch this year in the turkey department...which is good for the turkey hunting and bad for my food plot.
SAD DADDY Hunting Blinds
We're all guilty of it. We see a hunter with mismatched camo with an old single-shot 12-gauge. And he's sporting his deer he just harvested on the back of his old truck. It's a doe or more than likely a smaller buck. But he's happy, and grinning from ear-to-ear like he just killed the new world record! So you laugh and joke with your buddies as he goes by. While leaning against your brand new truck, in your name brand matching camo. But have you ever stopped to think that maybe the deer on the back of his truck means a lot more to him than just big antlers.... maybe he's a third shift blue collar worker at the local steel mill, just trying to pay his bills and keep gas in his old truck. Maybe he don't have the fancy game cameras and big food plots that you have. Or the big fancy hunting blinds, that cost more than his old truck. Maybe he's happy because he finally didn't have to work this weekend. So he decided to go hunting on the little piece of land that he's hunted since he was a boy, with the gun that his dad gave him when he turned 12 years old. More than likely he's not hunting to kill the next World Record. He could care less about the antlers. But what he does care about is putting food on the table for his family at home, and knowing that they're going to eat good for now. And that my friends will put a smile on any true sportsmans face. So good luck to all the hunters out there with the rest of your season. Just remember this, support each other and be happy for each other, no matter how big their harvest is, because to some folks it means a lot more then the size of the antlers.

Skies are clouding up. PLEASE let us get some rain this weekend!
Another installment of trail camera photos is in.
Good news on Missouri elk.
If Missouri's elk herd continues to grow the way it has, a very limited hunt might be possible by 2020.
