Kemah - 1906 Cottage on Long Island, Maine Kemah Cottage is on the East End of Long Island, Maine. It was built in 1906. This cozy and comfortable cottage is available for short- and long-term rentals.

Kemah is a rustic 1906 summer cottage on the Eastern tip of Long Island, Maine overlooking Casco Bay. Kemah has three bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 4-5 people -- the first bedroom has a double bed, second has 2 twins, third has a twin bed). We provide blankets and comforters, you provide sheets and towels. Full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, pantry full of dishes, pots, pans, utensils - bring your food on the ferry or purchase at the Boat House store. Dining room, living room, cozy TV room with limited box TV, VCR, DVD player (bring your favorite movies!). Cold running water in the kitchen, and an outhouse in a separate building, showers in a popup shower stall with battery-operated camping shower on the porch. No cable or internet - WELCOME BACK TO 1906! Enjoy the large lawn, beautiful ocean view from the wraparound covered porch, the sound of the surf below on the beach. Lots of stars at night. Rain pattering on the roof. Spectacular thunderstorms, cool ocean breezes. Scenic walks abound, and it's just a short walk to a sandy beach. Get away from it all at Kemah! It's ideal for romantics, birdwatchers, photographers, book readers, idlers and dreamers. Bring bikes and feet, or rent a golf cart on island. In 1924, the City of Portland, Maine sent a photographer to Long Island to document all of the buildings on the island for the tax records. Thanks to Maine Memory Network for putting these images online in a searchable database, enabling me to see my great-grandmother Mildred Richmond on the porch at Kemah nearly 100 years ago - in my favorite big black rocker.
