Please check us out on Kickstarter.com to help us do our little part to improve the planet. NaviSki trail maps, which are printed on environmentally friendly, water resistant, tear resistant, tree-free polypropylene "paper" are enclosed in a rugged housing also made of recyclable polypropylene with an elastic strap to allows them to slip onto the forearm of the user. The housing has a hinged lid w
hich is easily flipped open, automatically deploying the uniquely folded map in such a way that the map folds itself up again when the lid is closed-- thus eliminating the awkward unfolding and refolding of the wood pulp paper maps currently supplied by ski resorts. OKAY A LITTLE TECHNICAL STUFF:
For the "paper" maps we use a 100% tree and pulp-free synthetic paper, which results in conservation of forests, water and natural resources.
•No ozone-threatening emissions result from the synthetic paper's manufacturing process.
•The manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, Virginia has been recognized for excellence in the handling and discharge of waste water.
•Crafted of tree-free polypropylene pellets, the "paper" is 100% recyclable.
•Using the recommended methods, the recycling of the synthetic paper generates no sulfur, nitrogen or dioxin gases.
•Internal processes are continually reviewed at every stage to maximize environmental stewardship and minimize our carbon footprint.
•Very little water is used in the creation of the paper, which results in the preservation of Earth's water resources.
•The paper's durability and attributes yield a map that will have extremely long wear and stay out of the waste stream longer.
•Trim created during the manufacturing process is recycled and reintroduced in the production of further maps.
•The pulp-free, tree-free synthetic paper is free of toxins and heavy metals, producing yet another environmental benefit. Thank you for taking the time to give us a look-see. Here's hoping that together, we can prove the feasibility of replacing paper maps with recycled plastic to help conserve our resources... one NaviSki at a time!
