Another unforgettable trip to Western North Carolina ❤️⛰️
Every time we visit Maggie Valley, we return to a few favorites, discover something new, and leave wishing we had just a few more days.
This trip started with mountain sunsets, s’mores around the fire pit, and thousands of fireflies lighting up the field next door. ✨🔥
One of the biggest highlights was tubing the Oconaluftee River with Smoky Mountain Tubing. The kids jumped off rocks, tried the rope swing, and enjoyed a nearly two-hour float down the river.
Fishing at Cooper’s Trout Farm was another favorite. Caden caught his biggest fish yet—a 3-pound trout! 🎣 We took our catch home for dinner, making it one of those simple experiences we’ll all remember for years. If you have kids who love fishing, this place is a must.
A rainy day sent us to Franklin, where Caden found a local barber for a fresh haircut before we stopped at Maggie Valley Gem Mine on the way home. The excitement of finding colorful gems never gets old. 💎
When the weather cleared, we squeezed in the Express Zip Line Tour at Navitat Canopy Adventures. Not many places allow younger kids to zip line, so this was a huge win. Greg and Gabby were fantastic, and we’ll definitely be back for the Mountaintop Tour when the kids are a little older. 🌲⚡
Since the dogs stayed home this trip, we packed our golf clubs and finally played Maggie Valley Country Club. Our cabin sits directly across the road, so it’s been on our list for years. What made it extra special was bringing the kids along for their first round. They played from the junior tees and had an absolute blast before the rain eventually chased us off the course. ⛳🦌
The rest of the week was exactly what mountain vacations should be—hot tub and sauna time, board games, movie nights, cabin projects, and more s’mores.
Before heading home, we made one last stop at Mingo Falls and cooled our feet in the refreshing mountain water. And of course, no trip would be complete without pizza, wings, and craft beer at Dough Boys. 🍕🍻
