Multiple rounds of showers and storms are expected today. Heavy rain is the most likely hazard with storms this morning, with isolated instances of flooding possible. This afternoon and evening, additional rounds of storms are likely (40-60%), and while confidence is low that storms will be severe, a few damaging wind gusts in the strongest ones. Afternoon storms are most likely in northern areas, with evening storms more likely further south.

10 PM Update: Wanted to also address the flash flooding concern for tomorrow evening/night. If training convection develops then swaths of 2-4" (possibly even localized higher!) may occur tomorrow evening and into the overnight. The environment in place will certainly be capable of producing some very heavy rainfall rates.

The City of Marble Hill is seeking a visionary, ethical, and community-oriented law enforcement executive to serve as its next Chief of Police.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide executive leadership and direction for all police operations and personnel.
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with the community, elected officials, City departments, neighboring agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee budget preparation, fiscal management, and efficient allocation of resources.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as professional law enforcement standards.
• Lead recruitment, training, professional development, and performance management of staff.
• Promote community-oriented policing and crime prevention strategies that enhance public safety and quality of life.
• Respond to major incidents and emergencies as needed and serve as a key member of the City’s emergency management team.
• Represent the department in public forums, media interactions, and interagency partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including supervisory roles.
• Valid driver’s license and POST license.
• Demonstrated experience in community policing, organizational leadership, budget management, and personnel administration.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, physical examination, and psychological evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience leading a municipal police department of comparable size and complexity.
• Proven track record of building community trust and improving organizational culture.

Route 34 in Cape Girardeau and Bollinger Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform bridge maintenance and pavement improvements.

Motorists should anticipate work zones between Route 72 in Cape Girardeau County and County Road 302 in Marble Hill, Missouri, as work progresses. The entire length of the project limits will not be impacted simultaneously.

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Bridge maintenance will take place at the following locations:
◾️Two bridges located east of Burfordville, MO between Route UU and County Road 360
▪️Aug. 10 through Aug. 31, weather permitting

◾️Byrd Creek Bridge between County Road 347 and County Road 343 in Cape Girardeau County
▪️Aug. 31 through Sept. 30, weather permitting

Following the bridge maintenance, contractor crews will perform pavement repairs and an asphalt overlay on Route 34 from Route B in Bollinger County to Route 72 in Cape Girardeau County.

The project is anticipated to be complete by Friday, Oct. 30, weather permitting.
