Every year sparrows try in vain to make nests along the front of Moonstone Beach Motel. They try to build on top of our spike strips, in our gutters, and even on the half inch ledge of the decorative trim around our doors. They don't succeed, instead spreading mud and straw and droppings all down our walls and piled on the decking.

I went outside and hosed off all the failed building materials, and this guy was very upset with me. He sat on the rail outside my office door, turned his head around backwards and glared at me.

Every year at the beginning of June, hillsides and fields erupt with purple Foxglove stalks covered in bell-shaped flowers. It's one of the thousand reason the PNW is so beautiful. Bye, Foxglove, see you next year!
