Go up while town still looks like summer. You'll want a jacket walking out first thing and you'll be carrying it only a little while later.

Nobody arrives planning to be outside at ten at night. Then the sun drops behind the peak, the courtyard lights come on, and the sky over the mountain turns into the reason you stayed up. The lake holds its heat through the afternoon this time of year, so days end tired in the good way.
