ARCADIAN SHORES BEACH RENOURISHMENT SCHEDULE🏖️
Beach renourishment efforts along the Grand Strand are continuing south.
The locally funded project to restore and protect our coastline is expected to begin in the Arcadian Shores area of Horry County in early March. No federal funds are being used for this project.
Horry County is investing $4.8 million to renourish approximately one mile of shoreline, from Singleton Swash to Apache Pier. This marks the third beach renourishment project completed in this area.
The City of Myrtle Beach is also partnering with Horry County to include portions of beach within the city limits, contributing an additional $4.9 million toward the project.
Currently the Galveston (Dredge) is expected to return to the Grand Strand in mid-February to start on the north portion of Reach 2 (MB) south of Bear Branch for a couple of weeks, then move north to Arcadian Shores. Work in Arcadian Shores is expected to take about 30 days.
The contractor will then move south to Reach 2 in Myrtle Beach. From there, they will continue to complete Reach 2 (MB) and then move to Reach 3 which includes Surfside Beach, Garden City, and a portion of Georgetown County.
The final phase of the project is anticipated to be completed this summer.
