Today I came across something for the first time. I went to a new Homewatch client for the first time today. When the home owner left, they turned off the water at the outside main valve, but someone opened the faucet in the kitchen. Nothing happened at the time. However, someone, probably the pool guy, turned on the water main valve and didn’t shut it off when they left. When I arrived at the house today I noticed a door hanger from the water company on the front door. The hanger stated the house had a continuous stream of water which was probably due to a leak.

When I went in the house I immediately found the faucet running.. The homeowner is not sure how many days the water was running, but long enough for the water company to detect it and come out to check on it. .

This was in avoidable situation if the homeowner made sure all of the interior faucets were off. Let this be a learning lesson for everyone.
