Guess where we're going! Next 2 months are fun and busy. 5 round trip flights w/ Zuzu, all "free" on points and miles. Out of pocket only $67 for the 3 flights. The 2 AA flights are all 1st class so taxes/fees are $351.

We had 2 daughters get married in 2025 so that kept our vacation budget down to only $3336.

Total cash value of the 5 vacations was $32,359. So we were able to get about 10x value out of our annual thanks to !

2025 was a big travel year, but only five real vacation trips! Greece & Crete, Jamaica All inclusives, in the Smokey Mountains, Isla Mujeres , and date night in NYC for a Broadway show!

Total out-of-pocket was only $3336. If not for , it would’ve cost us $32,359 for all of the flights hotels, food, drinks, rental cars, gas, rides, public, transportation, entertainment, tips, and entrance fees that we spent on these awesome vacations!

2025 was a big travel year for us but not like the past few years. Both of our daughters got married in 2025 so we scaled back on our "normal" fun travel & only had 5 (non-wedding) vacation-style trips. I'll add recaps over the next few days. Sandra & I took 5 "vacation" trips:

Our total out of pocket for 2025 was $3,336. If we'd paid full price (which we'd never do), it would have cost us $32,359. That includes all flights, hotels, food/drinks, rental cars, gas, rides, public transport, entertainment, entrance fees & even tips.

A few other stats (these include wedding trips and a few trips that were't fully vacations):

Hey Vols fans! Get ready to fly the Orange and White! 🍊

Southwest Airlines is officially coming to Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) starting March 5, 2026. This is HUGE for all of us in Big Orange Country!

They'll be offering service to Nashville (yes, Nashville!), Baltimore, Dallas, and Orlando. Perfect for catching away games or a much-needed vacation.

Southwest is the official airline of the SEC, so you know they'll be bringing that good ol' Rocky Top spirit. Flights are already available for purchase, so start planning your trips now!

Disclaimer: That awesome checkerboard plane livery in the picture doesn't actually exist... yet. Maybe we can speak it into existence!

Football home games are the best! And we love to stay downtown in the action but hotel prices get jacked up months ahead of time. But here's our secret to stay in the heart of the action without breaking the bank.

We used Hyatt points to book 2 nights at the Hyatt Place in Knoxville on Gay St for the big games this year:
Vols v Georgia: Rooms average $1400/night. We used 18k Hyatt points & even get free valet parking!
Vols v Oklahoma: Rooms average $1011/night. Or 18k Hyatt points!

Both games have rooms available on points right now as I post this! Go book it before they're all gone!

Don't have Hyatt points? You can transfer Chase points 1:1 to Hyatt... or you can even buy Hyatt points. 36k Hyatt points (enough for a 2 night stay) only costs $749!

So I see 3 options for Vol fans to be in all the action:
1) Pay cash to stay at the downtown HP. 2 nights: $2,807 (gag!)
2) Buy Hyatt points for $749 (save 73%)
3) Use Chase or Hyatt points & spend $0! (like we do)
