Welcome back to Bush TV! 🥂

In this clip, TopGuides founder, Victor, answers a fundamental question: Why did he establish his own camps?
His answer? Freedom. ✨
Victor explains that his goal was to create spaces in these remote, beautiful areas where guests have the absolute freedom to move and reconnect with the wild on their own terms, away from crowds. He wanted to ensure that every guest has the space and opportunity to simply be themselves among the incredible creatures of the Serengeti.

This philosophy of freedom is built into every element of the TopGuides experience. ♥️

There is a side of the Tanzanian coast that feels completely untouched by time, and you find it the moment you land on Mafia Island.
While most travelers head straight to the famous beaches of Zanzibar, Mafia remains a quiet, well-kept secret. It isn’t a place of massive resorts or crowded shorelines; it is a protected marine park where life still moves to the rhythm of the tides and the seasonal trade winds.
What makes Mafia truly special isn’t just the white sand, but what lies just beneath the surface of its deep blue waters:

* The Gentle Giants: Between October and April, the island becomes a sanctuary for migrating whale sharks. Swimming alongside these massive, peaceful creatures in Chole Bay is a humbling experience that completely redefines your relationship with the ocean.
* A Diver’s Paradise: Because it is a designated marine park, the coral reefs here are incredibly healthy and bursting with life. It’s widely considered some of the finest reef diving in East Africa.
* Living History: Just a short boat ride away lies Chole Island, where ancient baobabs swallow the ruins of 19th-century Arabic structures, and traditional craftsmen still build wooden dhows by hand using tools unchanged for centuries.

We love adding Mafia Island to the end of a safari itinerary. After days spent in the dust of the Serengeti or Tarangire, coming here feels like a deep, collective exhale. It offers the absolute privacy and stillness that defines our version of hospitality.
It’s not just a beach holiday—it’s a chance to disappear into a slower, wilder side of the Indian Ocean. 🌊🐚🏝️

How do you describe the sound of thousands of hooves vibrating through the earth? Or the way the light catches the dust as the herd moves as one? ✨
The truth is, some things can’t be captured in a brochure. You have to stand there in the quiet of the morning, feel the ground shake, and watch the plains come alive.🌅

We believe the best thing a guide can do right then is simply be still, and let you take it all in.
This is the Serengeti, entirely yours. ✨

Welcome back to Bush TV! 🥂

In this part of our conversation, Topguides founder, Victor, takes us back to his roots as a safari guide in the Serengeti.

He shares the most valuable skill his guiding years taught him: how to deal with people. From all countries, cultures, and backgrounds, Victor learned how to connect with and make everyone happy. He also talks about the surprising wisdom you can gain from observing the behaviors of wild animals! 🦁

His unique perspective—blending hospitality and deep naturalist knowledge—is the foundation of every Topguides experience.

Today, 9 May 2026, is World Migratory Bird Day, a global day focused on protecting migratory birds and their habitats. The 2026 theme is “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter!” 🌍🕊️

Tarangire National Park is a sanctuary for these travelers, especially between November and April when Palearctic migrants arrive from Europe, Asia, and Northern Africa. Some of the well-known migratory species we see in Tarangire include:
• European Bee-eater – Colorful flocks often seen catching insects in flight. 🐝
• White Stork – Travelers of huge distances from Europe to East Africa.
• Abdim’s Stork – Commonly seen across the grasslands after the rains. 🌧️
• Yellow-billed Stork – Their seasonal movements follow water availability. 💧
• Barn Swallow – Arriving from Europe during the northern winter.
• Steppe Eagle – A winter visitor from Central Asia. 🦅
• Amur Falcon – Occasionally recorded during their migration passage.

With the Tarangire River and its marshes attracting both resident and migratory species, more than 500 bird species can be recorded here during the peak season. It is a reminder that in the wild, everything is connected. 🌿✨

There is a specific kind of silence that only happens when you’re out on the water. 🌊✨

Fanjove has this way of making you feel tiny in the best possible way. Whether it’s the steady rhythm of waves or a breathtaking moment when a pod of dolphins decides to cruise alongside you, you realize the ocean here has a soul of its own.

t’s the salt on your skin and the way the horizon seems to go on forever. After days spent tracking lions in the tall grass, the power of the Indian Ocean feels like a deep exhale. We’ve spent a lot of time on these waters, and we still haven’t found anything that clears the mind quite as much as the salty air and that deep, restorative blue, and sunsets over the Indian Ocean 🐚🌅

We’re heading to Cape Town! 🇿🇦

We can’t wait to bring the spirit of TopGuides Africa to the upcoming We Are Africa tradeshow from 4–9 May 2026. 🐘🌍

Whether you’re an old friend or a new partner, we invite you to take a moment and connect with us at the DHL Stadium. Let’s talk about what makes a stay with us more than just a place to sleep.🏠

Meet with our team: Victor, Elena, Benjamin, and Kirsten.

See you there, tribe! ✨

04/19/2026

Take a moment… slow down, breathe it in, and feel the quiet connection with nature that only Serengeti can give you 🤍

These are the kind of moments that stay with you—long after you’ve left.
