In just two months, the 45th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival gets underway in Ocean Isle Beach, bringing a full weekend of seafood, live music, contests, shopping, and family fun to Town Center Park. Fresh oysters are the main attraction, with visitors able to enjoy steamed, charbroiled, and other oyster dishes along with shrimp, barbecue, sweets, and other festival favorites. The weekend also includes the North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championship, a crowd-pleasing oyster-eating contest, and Sunday’s oyster stew cook-off featuring local cooks and recipes.

Throughout the park, you can browse rows of arts and crafts booths filled with handmade jewelry, pottery, woodwork, clothing, coastal décor, sauces, soaps, and gifts. Live music keeps the festival lively with beach music, country, funk, R&B, and rock performed on the main stage. Community Night starts the celebration Friday, October 16, from 6–8 p.m. with The Sea Cruz Band. The main festival runs Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday, October 18, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Admission is $5 cash for adults, while children 12 and under enter free. Bring a lawn chair and your appetite, but leave pets, coolers, backpacks, and outside food or drinks at home.

Community Night kicks things off on Friday, October 16 from 6PM–8PM with live music from The Sea Cruz Band. It’s the perfect way to start the weekend with great music and a fun night out at the beach.
