I finally started the YouTube channel I’ve been wanting to create since I was pregnant!

I recorded this entire Pregnancy Series and shared on here through all the phases of my pregnancy, documenting my experience in real time through each trimester, all the transitions, and everything that was on my heart along the way.

Due to the longer nature of these videos, I wanted to share them on a platform that allows for that. Getting these videos uploaded to YouTube became a postpartum project happening slowly between naps, family visiting, returning to work, and adjusting to life as a new mom 😅

But the full series is finally live. I’ve now uploaded my entire 9-part Pregnancy Series documenting my personal experience through:�• each trimester�• severe pregnancy sickness�• emotional and mental health during pregnancy�• preparation for labor & postpartum�• Chinese medicine support tools�• and the very real transitions into motherhood

I’ve also started my Postpartum Series, including:�• why I chose homebirth�• my full birth story�• ongoing postpartum reflections and all about baby life for me

The postpartum series is ongoing and I’ll continue sharing throughout the different phases of postpartum for as long as the experience continues unfolding for me and until it eventually feels complete 💗

Pregnancy was honestly one of the hardest experiences of my life physically, mentally, and emotionally. Postpartum has surprisingly felt much more supported and grounded for me, and I deeply credit so many of the Chinese medicine tools and preparation practices I incorporated along the way.

My hope with sharing all of this is to create more honest, supportive, and real conversations around pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood — and hopefully help other women feel less alone in the process.

Postpartum Series Part 2 is finally up on YouTube!

This video was actually recorded on the exact same day as Part 1… during the very first 20 minutes I had home alone without my baby 😅

At the time, I thought I’d just upload it to Instagram like the first video, but it ended up being slightly over the IG time limit… which then sent me down the rabbit hole of finally creating the YouTube channel I’ve been wanting to make forever.

And between newborn life, baby distractions, family visiting, returning to work, and honestly just not having the bandwidth for another platform at the time… it somehow took me over a month to finally get this uploaded 😂

But we made it.

In Part 2 of my Postpartum Series, I share my full birth story and reflect on my homebirth experience — including why homebirth felt safe and aligned for me, what labor was like, and my perspective both as a mother and as an acupuncturist + Doctor of Chinese Medicine.

In all the struggles it took to get me to this moment, I can truly say it was worth every single one of them. I just can’t imagine my life without you, sweet boy. Thank you for making me a mama 🥹💙

When I was deep in the struggle of pregnancy, my mom came to take care of me. I expressed all my doubts and fears of becoming a mom, and she shared how she just couldn’t imagine life without me. “My heart doesn’t beat without you,” she said.

And now I get it. All the things my own mom has worried about over the years, and all I’ve heard from other moms—I truly understand it now. Thank you to all the mamas who’ve helped me prepare for this moment. This is by far the greatest gift.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas, mama figures, mamas-to-be, and desiring mamas. I love you all and am so honored to be a part of motherhood with you ❤️

Back in the office and moving through this season with softness…

And in case you were following along with my pregnancy journey and wondering…the smells have finally subsided!

For those newer here, I’m Dr. Elise Lasko, DACM, L.Ac. I found Chinese Medicine through my own healing journey with anxiety, and supporting women and children has always been at the heart of my work. Now that I’m a mama myself, that connection feels even deeper.

After experiencing a challenging pregnancy with borderline hyperemesis, extreme smell sensitivity, and now navigating postpartum firsthand, I have a much deeper understanding of the many layers of motherhood—the tenderness of watching your baby constantly change, breastfeeding challenges, hormonal fluctuations, identity shifts, and the emotional complexity woven through it all.

37 years young and a first time mama…

So much wisdom comes with becoming a mama a little later. I’ve studied, partied, traveled, loved, lost, worked many jobs, and started over many times. Nothing compares to this. This is by far the best and most important version of myself.

As much as I had hoped for this at 30, I am even more grateful for this at 37. Thank you to all the life lessons that prepared me for this. And thank you Atlas for making me a mama this year . You are my greatest birthday gift. I love you sweet baby. Happy Birthday to us because we are one 💗

At last, my Atlas Peter Schwartz was born at home on February 4th at 9:41 am, just as the morning sun started to peak through the windows. It was the most beautiful moment of my life. As I brought him to my chest, I’ve never felt more love or peace in my heart.

Atlas, you must know that we called you into existence after the Greek titan who holds up the world. I want you to know that although that seems like a very big responsibility, you will not be doing it alone. I too have always carried the weight of the world. Know we will be here to carry it with you. It gives me peace to know you are now here with me to help me carry it all.

Peter, after your great-grandfather—one of the sweetest and most wonderful men I’ve ever known.

Schwartz is your last name like your Daddy’s; may you carry it proudly.

You have beautiful blue eyes just like both of your grandfathers. You were born a true Aquarius at 42 weeks, making your mama sweat at the thought you’d never come! You arrived just two days before your daddy’s birthday and on the first day of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac.

We will raise you to be a good man. May you show love and respect to women. May you be sweet and loving like your daddy, and have the desire to love and see the world like your mommy. May you find your way through life in the way that feels most aligned to your purpose.

I share this announcement today, March 4th, which would have been my maternal grandmother’s 101st birthday. Her aquamarine ring is shared in these photos—a piece I inherited as we share a birth month. She, along with all my grandparents who have passed, was with me on this harrowing journey of becoming a mother. They sat at my bedside through the darkest nights of my pregnancy and the most difficult moments of labor.

My home birth was absolutely magical , and I have my midwives , doula and partner to thank. I have so much more to share of this experience as my pregnancy series transpires into birth and postpartum.
