The 1920s photograph of Perkins Cove shows a road leading to the cove with existing street lights. A notable dispute over streetlights began around 1900 when Ogunquit residents' request for funded streetlights was rejected by Wells town meeting. This led Ogunquit residents to petition the Maine State Legislature, resulting in the formation of the Ogunquit Village Corporation in 1913. during this time the cove was dotted with fishermen and artists.

Looking out the window this morning, we thought there was a fire across the street. Turns out it was just an incredible sunrise lighting up the sky.
