Happy Easter to all! I am so happy to be able to share with you that one of our favorite movies can be watched for free for a short time. It is about the making of public art, but it is a great road trip story, with a lot to say about life in middle America. It has won film awards and is making it's way into being a film success. We want to bring it to Film Streams. Share with us your feedback so we can propose that to them more effectively.
Rebecca Harrison, part of our team, apprenticed on the Hastings mural, part of the Mid-America Arts Alliance Mural Project that is at the core of this film. And what she learned on that project has fed into all that we do with the South Omaha Mural Project. So, gather your family, and get ready for a really good watch. Have some kleenex ready for some of the scenes, really. Let us know how much you want us to bring the film to Omaha for a showing!
During this time of physical distancing and isolation, we would like to share with you a film that is about coming together to make something beautiful.
Beginning this Sunday, April 12 @ 7pm CST, the documentary Called to Walls will be available to stream for one month free on our website: www.calledtowalls.com.
In addition, on Thursday, April 30th @ 6pm CST, we will be hosting an online Q & A about the film and the power and potential of community-based art.
We hope you enjoy the completed film and join us in conversation on April 30th.
