🚴‍♀️🐾 Team Dax & KJ is Riding to Fight Kids’ Cancer! 🐾🚴‍♀️

We’ve biked for 7 days, clocked nearly 60 km, and raised $77 so far—but we’re just getting started! Our mission? To ride 200 km and raise $500 to help kids battling cancer through the Great Cycle Challenge.

Why? Because cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in Canada—3 kids lose their lives every single week. 💔 That’s not okay. Kids should be climbing trees and chasing ice cream trucks, not fighting for their lives in hospital beds.

So Dax and I are hitting the road to ride hard, sweat lots (well, I am—he’s mostly supervising), and raise funds for SickKids, to support research, treatments, and hope. 💪✨

We’ve got 141 km left to pedal and $423 left to raise—with just 3 weeks to go! Can we do it? With your help? Absolutely. 💛

I started planning this little fall bike tour on the Friday. Planning to leave on the Sunday. Messaged my daughter to arrange an overnight stay with the family on our way back home on Tuesday night. Going to wild camp Sunday night near Thamesford and then tour around town for the day before spending Monday night with my Warmshowers Hosts, Norma and Jim just outside of Thamesford....

Some pics from my Fresh Farm Bike Tour - had a great solo ride even though it started out a group ride. I’m a slow roller what can I say… rode the 43 km in 4 hours.. got the T-shirt! Ha!!! 29 September - 43km/Rural on the Ridge a brand new flat route which has been developed in conjunction with the Hamilton Halton Brant Tourism organization....

We finished off the month with a celebratory group ride with as many friends as we could gather together! Looking forward to seeing you all next year!! So while Dax is taking a little rest to heal up from his toe nail debacle, I reluctantly left him at home to take a hike on our local golf course. Beautiful sunshine.. a bit windy but I was dressed for it. Still, even though I needed the fresh air and sunshine, it wasn’t as fun without Daxy.

Tried ski/canicross today on those short ski/skates!! Went really well!! Dax was so supportive of me needing him to be mindful and not pull me too fast. Got up to a nice running speed before we started down a small hill. Wheee!!! I like these ski/skates better than cross country skis because it doesn’t feel like my ankles are going to get twisted around.. and it feels a lot easier to steer and control them too. Sorry I don’t own a go-pro, so no footage of us actuating moving. But maybe next time, I will brave using my phone to take some video
