If you like live music, mark your calendar for November 5 to 15.

The 42nd Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival brings more than 200 songwriters to over two dozen venues along the Alabama and Florida coast, centered at -Bama. You hear the songs from the people who wrote them, along with the stories behind them. Most shows are free, and a few venues charge a small cover.

Flora-Bama is a short drive from both of our condos, and both have open dates during the festival:

Island Pass OB: Nov 6 to Nov 9

Both of our condos are still open for Thanksgiving week.

If you've thought about doing Thanksgiving at the beach, here's what's still open as of today. Dates are check-in to check-out.

Both condos are Gulf-front with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, sleep 10, and have a full kitchen for the big meal. If the weather turns cool, both buildings have a heated indoor pool.

We really hate hurricanes.
Thinking of all of our Gulf Coast neighbors this morning, from the Panhandle to the Alabama coast. So many families are facing damage, no power and a long cleanup, and others lost a beach trip they'd been looking forward to for months. Both are hard.

We've been talking about what we might be able to do to help, and we'll share more soon.

For our guests, Coastal Comfort OB and Island Pass OB came through safely and will reopen tomorrow. We'll reach out to anyone with an upcoming stay.

As we prepared for this hurricane , every guest who asked to cancel got a full refund from us, even outside our cancellation window. Airbnb didn't cover it, so it came out of our pocket, but it was the right call.

Should hosts refund guests for hurricanes/natural disasters even when the policy says no? 👇

Trade January's snow for a Gulf-front balcony.

Winter on Alabama's beaches averages around 60 degrees. Quiet beaches, restaurants with no wait, and a real snowbird community: state clubs from Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois and more, plus a free Winter Showcase lecture series at Gulf State Park in January and February.
