UPDATE 12/3/25: Y'all snagged every day pass and hiking spot we had. We are full! 🤯 If you are someone who got a day pass but did not get on a ranger-guided hike, we now have a self-guided option. The self-guided option only requires a day pass. We look forward to seeing everyone on January 1st!
🚨BIG NEWS!!!🚨
If you want to join us and other parks across Texas for First Day Hikes to celebrate the New Year, day-use reservations are now available ✨December 1st✨
🎟️ Getting a day-use reservation for this event is very HIGHLY recommended due to limited parking availability. Go to TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com to find our park and click “Day Passes”.
🥾 After getting your day pass, be sure to register for one of our ranger-guided hikes! You can find them by going to https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/palo-pinto-mountains/events. Check out the description for each hike and fill out the registration form in the event description.
♿️ Our all-terrain wheelchairs will be available for this event. For more information or to reserve these chairs, please email us at [email protected].
⚠️ To visit the park on January 1, you will need to reserve a day pass AND register for the hike you want.
Hope to see y’all on January 1st! 📆
EDIT: This is not an opening date. This is just a special event to ring in 2026, and allow folks to see our progress and experience the park for ✨one day only✨ When we have an opening date, it’ll be announced online.
