This illustration is pulled straight from one of my favorite memories.

The summer after college, I spent a few months in Rhode Island with my best friend. We filled our days with ice cream shifts, beach days, little adventures, nights out, and long conversations that somehow never seemed to run out.

Looking back, I don’t remember every detail.

I remember the feeling.

The kind of friendship where you can spend hours together and never feel the need to perform, explain, or be anything other than yourself.

Years later, that’s still what comes to mind when I think about that summer.

This piece isn’t about a specific day. It’s about that feeling of sitting beside someone who already knows your story.

And somehow, that makes the whole world feel a little lighter.

Seriously though… some days I wonder if coffee is less of a “morning drink” and more of a personality trait at this point. 😂

Not even for the caffeine anymore.
It’s the ritual.
The quiet.
The warm mug in your hands before the world starts asking things from you.

Honestly, some of my best moments of my early morning happen in those first few slow sips before the bustle begins.

And yes… I probably could cut back.
But let’s not do anything dramatic. ☕🤍

You do not have to wake up feeling fearless to move your life forward.

Sometimes confidence looks like:
Answering the email.
Starting before you feel ready.
Trying again after a hard week.
Opening the laptop anyway.
Taking one sip of coffee and one small step at a time.

The quiet routines matter more than we think. They remind us that confidence is usually built in ordinary moments, not dramatic ones.

A slow morning.
A clear mind.
A little belief in yourself before the world gets loud.

That is enough to start.

Memorial Day always feels a little quieter to me.

Not just because of what was sacrificed, but because of what that sacrifice protected.

The ordinary things.
Slow mornings.
Coffee on the couch.
Kids laughing in the next room.
Weekend barbecues.
Phone calls home.
The freedom to build a life filled with everyday moments we often don’t even realize are gifts.

Some families carry that absence every single day. In framed photos. Folded flags. Empty chairs. Stories passed down. Quiet memories sitting on mantels and shelves.

I think today is a reminder to pause long enough to notice the life happening around us and to hold a little more gratitude for the simple things we get to experience because someone else gave everything.

Remembered in the everyday moments. ❤️

Sunday reminder:

You do not have to rush through your life to prove you’re doing enough.

Some seasons are for growing.
Some are for healing.
Some are simply for sitting quietly with your coffee, your thoughts, and a slower pace.

The world will keep asking for more.
Protect the parts of yourself that need rest anyway.

Slow mornings.
Soft evenings.
A little less pressure.
A little more breathing room.

That counts too. ❤️

A lot of my illustrations start as real memories, experiences, or tiny moments that stayed with me long after they happened.

This one came from a morning walking the path between Monterosso al Mare and Vernazza in Cinque Terre, Italy. We were winding through little paths lined with lemon trees while cats rested in the shade nearby, tucked into corners along the hillside. The morning sun streamed through the branches in these warm golden beams that made everything feel soft and slow.

You could hear birds, footsteps, and the ocean below if you stopped long enough.

It felt like one of those rare moments where nobody was rushing anywhere.

That memory stayed with me for years... "Let yourself rest here.”

Honestly, that feeling is a big part of what drew me to . Their whole brand feels rooted in slowing down enough to actually experience your life.

Slow mornings. Quiet evenings. Little rituals that make ordinary days feel softer.

Even the scents of their products remind me of this memory. Warm citrus, sun on stone paths, fresh air coming through open windows, and those peaceful Italian mornings where time seemed to stretch a little longer.

Sometimes inspiration isn’t a grand moment.
Sometimes it’s just sunlight through lemon trees. 🍋

Friends in your 20s:
“Sorry the house is messy.”

Friends in your 30s and 40s:
“Move the laundry. I brought snacks.”

The older you get, the more you realize real friendship has nothing to do with spotless houses and everything to do with feeling comfortable enough to show up as you are.

Messy counters.
Unfolded laundry.
Cold wine.
Good conversation.

That’s luxury now.

43 feels a lot like this.

A slow morning cup.
An unhurried evening pour.
And a quiet knowing that the best parts of life don’t have to be loud to be good.

Still finding little things worth celebrating.

Cheers to 43 and all the good things. 🤍

Please try again tomorrow.

No guilt.
No explanation.
Just peace.

Sundays used to feel like catching up.
Now they feel more like coming back.

Back to the version of you that isn’t measured by what got done.
Back to the parts of you that get quiet during the week.
Back to the person who doesn’t need to earn their rest.

Maybe today isn’t about resetting everything.
Maybe it’s just about remembering you were never behind.

We’ve said it all before and somehow it still feels new every single time.

The same stories, the same worries, the same laughter that catches you off guard.

And you never rush it because this is the kind of conversation that doesn’t need anything new to matter.

Just the right person
and a little more time
