Is there something simple you find relaxing?

For me, it can be just cleaning out old lily pads from the water feature and discovering new blooms, creatures and watching the goldfish. 🌸🐟

I also find mowing relaxing. There are very few decisions to make…other than which way to blow the clippings or do I go around the tree to the right or left. 😂

And then there’s fishing - which is even better when the catfish decides to take itself off the hook. I wasn’t fishing for him anyways! 🎣

🐾 Did you know August 26th is National Dog Day? 🐾

Around Caney Acres, we’ve had a number of dogs over the years, and currently have 3. Two of our current dogs are ones that just showed up out of nowhere. Being a half mile from the highway, you wonder where they came from!

But somehow, they become part of the family. ❤️

We welcome guests with well-behaved dogs, because we know leaving them behind isn’t always an option or what anyone wants to do.

And you realize when you start looking for pictures…..you apparently have more of two of your dogs than you do of one! 😬🐶🐾

It’s Texas. It’s August. It’s going to be hot. ☀️

But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Caney Acres.

Find some shade, fish early or late, watch the hummingbirds and birds, or enjoy the view from inside through all those windows. And when it’s just too hot outside? There are some games waiting indoors. (byom)

The flowers may be taking a summer break, but there’s plenty of life around Caney Acres.

TBT - Before Caney Acres was what it is today, it was simply a place we came to from the city to camp, swim, fish, and enjoy a little time in the country.

It was pretty primitive back then - think starting over 50 years ago. 🤣 The pictures may not be the best, but the memories sure are.

Today things are a little different. 😂 You can still enjoy the country, the fishing, the water, and the peaceful surroundings - but thankfully, guests no longer have to sleep outside unless they want to! 😄
