On August 27th, the energy community will come together in , Texas for National Petroleum Day, and we’re excited to be part of the celebration!

National Petroleum Day marks the anniversary of the first successful commercial oil well drilled in the U.S. by Edwin Drake in Titusville, Pennsylvania, in 1859. The Permian Basin has its own place in that history, with the region’s first commercial discovery oil well dating back to 1920. More than a century later, the Permian Basin remains one of the most important energy producing regions in the country.

To celebrate, we’ll be participating in the National Petroleum Day Tailgate on Thursday, August 27th, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public, bringing together live music, food trucks, vendors, industry displays and a live auction benefiting the Midland Fire Department.

Come hang out with us! We'll be located at the Outdoor Vendor area near Pecos and Wall Street, look for the and bright orange Scania hats!

If you’ve stopped by the Scania booth at any of our marine or industrial trade shows, chances are you’ve met him. Whether he’s answering technical questions, helping you find the right engine for your application, or just swapping stories with fellow engine enthusiasts. Arlo is always happy to talk shop.

As Sr. Application Engineer, he’s spent more than a decade helping customers integrate Scania engines into everything from crushers and harvesters to commercial fishing vessels, ferries, yachts, airport rescue firefighting vehicles (ARFF) and much more.

Agri Green Enterprises Inc. AG Maximizer takes a different approach to hay drying.

Instead of waiting for hay to dry completely in the field, producers can bale at higher moisture and dry the bales in a controlled environment. The system is designed to preserve leaf, color, and protein while bringing bales to safe storage moisture in a controlled process.

The diesel powered Maximizer is driven by a Scania 13L engine. The engine powers the fan system, while heat generated by the engine and air compression is captured and used in the drying process. No separate burner or electric heating elements are required.

It's a practical example of Scania power serving as an integral part of the equipment, not just its power source. How cool?!

Coming to you from , M.V. Digby Island Ferry, powered by twin DI09s: “The DI09’s are bolted to Twin Disc MGX-5114DC’s with a 4.59:1 gear ratio. The engine to gear are coupled using Centaflex-R couplers. They have been running for exactly 2 years and have 2600 hrs on them with zero issues. We replaced 2 Detroit Diesel 8v-71’s bolted to Allison gears and are burning 30% less fuel. The refit was completed at Point Hope Shipyard in Victoria BC Canada in 2024.” - C. Nicholls, Sr. Engineer
