One of the best parts about Santa Barbara County wine country? You can enjoy the best of both worlds. Spend part of the day exploring the Urban Wine Trail and the rest surrounded by picturesque vineyard views. From cozy tasting rooms throughout downtown Santa Barbara and along the waterfront (some with ocean views!) to vineyard experiences in Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Maria Valley, it’s easy to experience both in a single getaway. 🍷

This weekend, June 19-21, 2026, marks the 52nd anniversary of Santa Barbara’s beloved Summer Solstice Celebration celebration, making it the perfect time to look back at how it all began. 🌞 ✨

The Summer Solstice Parade started in 1974 as a birthday celebration for artist and mime Michael Gonzales. What began as a small community gathering has grown into one of Santa Barbara’s most cherished traditions.

Today, the celebration features dazzling floats, giant puppets, whimsical costumes and masks, with more than 1,000 community members taking part each year. In the months leading up to the parade, local artists and volunteers spend countless hours bringing imaginative creations to life.

Creativity extends beyond the parade route. Each year, artists compete to design the official Summer Solstice T-shirt and poster, helping raise funds to support the event. 🎨

The festivities stretch far beyond parade day, offering a weekend filled with creativity, culture and unforgettable moments for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re cheering on the parade, exploring the festival or enjoying Friday’s performances, there’s no better time to experience one of Santa Barbara’s most vibrant community traditions.
