Water Rescue / Missing Person Response

At approximately 4:41 p.m. today, Seaside Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a report of a missing person who had last been seen in the water.

Shortly after crews arrived, a second, unrelated party reported another missing person who had also last been seen in the water.

The first missing person was quickly located safe on land. When the second individual could not be located, Seaside Fire & Rescue launched rescue watercraft and began a primary search of the water. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified and responded to assist, including conducting an aerial search of the area.

After a little over an hour of searching, crews received confirmation that the second missing person had also been located safe on land.

We are thankful that both incidents had positive outcomes. These calls also serve as an important reminder: if you report someone missing in or near the ocean and they are later located, please immediately notify emergency responders. This allows us to end search operations quickly and safely and ensures emergency resources remain available for other calls.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! 46 years ago today Josh and Jack opened up Cleanline Surf Shop in Seaside and the rest is history! We weren't the first shop in the PNW but we are the longest running, and it's been our honor and pleasure to serve you all these years. We want to thank all of you for your support - we wouldn't be here without you! Cheers to 46 years!!! 🥂
