One of our favorite parts of spring in the Smokies is seeing the mama bears with their cubs. 🐻🤍

What’s even more special is that black bears have been known to occasionally take in orphaned cubs and raise them as their own — protecting them, nurturing them, and loving them no differently than the cubs they gave birth to.

There’s something deeply beautiful about that… and something very human in it too.

Today we celebrate all the moms — including the women who stepped in, opened their hearts, and raised children that were not biologically their own, yet loved them fiercely without ever missing a beat.

🌄 The Smoky Mountains are waking up… and it’s one of the most magical times of the year.

This weekend we spring forward, and the mountains start stretching out of their winter slumber.

Soon the trails will be dotted with wildflowers 🌸
Birdsong will echo through the valleys 🎶
And before long… the mama bears will be bringing their cubs out to explore. 🐻
