WHAT ARE BEARS UP TO IN SEPTEMBER?

Bears enter hyperphagia in September and may look for food up to 20 hours a day. Berries, nuts and acorns are important fall bear foods. Bears can gain two to three pounds a day. Even bears that don’t hibernate eat as if they’re going to. Moms-to-be look for a good birthing den and nursery.

• Eating goes into hyperdrive
• It's peak time for an important bear food
• Bears are "nesting"
• About-to-be moms binge eat
• Cubs become curious

Turns out the cure for FOMO is a log cabin sitting right on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. 🌲🐻

Morning coffee on the porch. Hot tub after a day in the park. Bears wandering through the neighborhood. And the Smokies just 1.2 miles away.

There’s no separating the Smoky Mountains from Dolly Parton. 🤍

Her music, her story, her generosity, and the love she has always shown East Tennessee are woven into this place we love so much.

From a little cabin tucked in the Smokies, we’re celebrating the woman who showed the world that you can dream bigger than the mountains and still never forget where you came from. 🦋⛰️

Forever our Smoky Mountain girl. 💗

POV: you’re just sitting on the balcony at Little Pine Lodge and the neighbor stops by to see what you’re doing. 👀🐻😂

Never a dull moment around here. This curious little Smoky Mountain local was climbing the tree right beside us today — apparently personal space is not part of the bear code.

Just another afternoon at Little Pine Lodge. 🌲🐻

Taking the scenic route… VERY seriously. 🚙🌲🐻

Today’s adventure took us down Rich Mountain Road—miles of gravel mountain roads, water crossings, bears, wild turkeys, incredible overlooks above Cades Cove…and for most of it, not another soul in sight.

No crowds. No traffic. Just the Smokies doing what the Smokies do best. 🤎

One of those adventures that reminds us why we love having Little Pine Lodge tucked right here next to the national park.

Save this one for your next Smoky Mountain trip. 👀

Something very special is about to happen in these mountains… 🍂🍁🐻

Fall at Little Pine Lodge. Crisp mornings, golden leaves, cozy nights by the fire, hot tub weather, and the Smokies showing off in every direction. This is what LPL is about to feel like. 🤎

September still has a few openings—but once the leaves start turning, they won’t last long. 🍂

The bear cameras were BUSY last month! 🐻🎥

Every single night in July was booked, and every single guest reported seeing bears during their stay. Safe to say… the bears love Little Pine Lodge just as much as our guests do. 🖤

As we head into late summer and fall, they’re out eating everything they can find before winter, so your chances of spotting one are excellent. 🐻🍂

August is already fully booked, but there are still a few September dates available (for now). If seeing black bears in the Smokies is on your bucket list… this is your sign. 🏔️
