Good Afternoon Band Campers!
Just wanted to reach out and keep y'all updated on the progress being made at Candy Creek.
Once again, thank you all SO MUCH for coming out Roberts' Bar and showing your support for this community project. With the money that was raised through the fundraiser, Marc was able to put a big dent in some of the most important tasks that needed to get done.
We were able to get 10 loads of gravel delivered and spread along the road. This is really important because we need to have an access road that goes throughout the property. He was also able to purchase a culvert and install it, which will help with water drainage and make sure the road doesn't get flooded out when it rains. The 10 loads of gravel was only able to cover about a quarter of the road, so acquiring more gravel and finishing the road will be an ongoing expense and project.
We were able to hire a guy to go out there with a mulching skid steer for 8 hours, which was crucial to clearing the heavily wooded/brushy areas. Now there is actually a lot of open space where people can camp and park RVs. There is so much more room for activities now!
There has been a lot of tree cutting/processing done, further clearing more space for parking/camping.
A shed has been built, and another one is almost complete. We have had a lot of wood and building materials donated, so the next step will be building a stage/stage covering and more structures/outhouses/etc.
With the HEAT of the summer upon us, there probably won't be a whole lot going on up there until the weather cools down a bit. We are really looking forward to hosting some folks out there soon, but there is still just a bit more work to be done on the access road to have room for people to park and drive safely throughout the property.
Again, THANK YOU all so much for your generous donations and support! It couldn't be done without your help. We will keep you posted on future volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved.
We hope you all have a safe and happy Summer!
