At the heart of Hattie's work is a simple love of making. She creates the weird things she's thinking about, incorporates pieces of her history and family into her work, and then sends them out into the world to see what they mean to other people.

Hattie works across painting, drawing, printmaking, fiber art, beadwork, and wearable art, often bringing in repurposed objects, family memories, and pieces of her Cherokee heritage.

Her creative philosophy is basically: make the thing you're excited about and see what happens! And I LOVE that. 💛

We also have a hilarious thrift-store mishap involving an antique plate that didn't quite survive the trip home—but thankfully, Hattie already has a plan for its second life. 😂

Emma has been a professional artist for 20 years and a teaching artist for 10, and her creative practice is rooted in mindful, intentional making. She works with beautiful handmade textiles filled with stories, creating fabric meditation books, prayer flags, wearable art, and art journals from repurposed vintage books.
