Cuban ci**rs and aging - what a difference a little time in the humidor can make! OK, perhaps more than a little time. I had a Cuban Vegueros sitting in my humidor for the last 3 years or so. It was the only one I had, so I hadn’t smoked it. But on my recent trip to France I decided to pick up a couple for $12 Euros (roughly $14 US) out of curiosity. I lit up a couple and, frankly, they were harsh. Granted, my expectations weren’t high given that this is a “budget” Cuban. Still, it was strong and harsh. Fast forward a week and I decided to smoke the one from my humidor. What a diference! It was surprisingly good and smooth - very smooth! Both the strength and the harshness were totally gone. Actually, quite good for a cigar at a $14 price point.
