It’s been a wild month!
We’ve been going through some very stressful situations with the cabin. Hey maybe some of you can learn from us though!
If you look at picture 2, you’ll see a line in the middle of the wall that droops down a good amount. What happened was our concrete contractor poured the footings and just that corner sank about 4 inches. Long story short, our excavator didn’t compact that area. He compacted the pad, got it tested, but made some changes after getting it tested and didn’t get that area tested again. Our concrete guy gave us some recommendations to fix the issue without having to redo that corner, did those things, poured the walls, and it sank again about an inch and a half. Then the concrete guy and some excavators suggested a change that should have fixed it. The rest of the pictures show what they did. The next day it sank another inch and a half… 🫠
Learn from us. We tried to save time and money by listening to the contractors suggestions knowing the best thing would have been to tear out that corner and start over. Which is what we are doing now after spending a month trying quick fixes.
We’re still excited more than ever and love these learning lessons and curve balls thrown our way. That’s part of the fun right?
