Last night, in eager anticipation of the SpaceX launch, I happily set the alarm for 5am! In true fashion, I woke up before my alarm and checked to see if the skies were clear. I mean, after all, no need to get up early if you don't need to, lol π
As I checked the weather, it showed clear skies, 32 degrees, and the launch was in progress, with a count-down of 5 minutes. I put on sweats and a hoodie, came downstairs and the hubby and I headed out.
The park was very quiet with only one other person heading out to start their day. The crescent moonπ was deep orange against the black night sky. It was pretty chilly, but the excitement of the launch made it worth it.
It is amazing to witness that fireball coming up behind the trees and gracefully ascending into the sky until it disappears. Every time I witness this event, it's as exciting as the first time.
If I was ever asked, "What is one of the most memorable moments I've experienced here at Ogeechee Oaks RV Park?" I would have to say being able to watch the space launches right out my door! I don't have to get clearance to enter the viewing site, wait while being crammed together with everyone else, fight the crowds or traffic, and travel all that way to find out the mission was scrubbed at the last minute!
This is a video I created with pictures taken off of my original video I recorded on my phone. I edited the photo's background noise to make them clearer and zoomed in. Not perfect, but not too bad either, lol π
Let your stay at Ogeechee Oaks RV Park be part of your special memories while watching the next space launch.
We'll see ya soon!
