Top Ten Travel List Hi! We started our travel adventures way back in 2012, in a time when the majority of publications were only covering international travel. Hi.

We started the trend of organizing our info via lists. We spotlight both recreational & cultural attractions. I am Maureen and I am the writer and trip planner of Top Ten Travel List. My significant other, Mike, is the web developer and designer. We both spend our weekends traveling, hiking, exploring new cities, dining at local restaurants, taking daytrips, and uncovering hidden gems. We started

this site over a decade ago to showcase wonderful places and hidden gems throughout the US. Back in the day, we noticed many travel bloggers only covered international travel. We wanted to show that you do not have to spend a lot of money to explore beautiful places in the US. America is home to so many of its' own treasures including world-class cultural attractions, stunning national parks, and amazing historic places. You do not need to feel pressured to travel internationally if you do not have the time or money. Mike and I are both originally from the Chicago metro. We have been moving and traveling across the US for 15 years now. What started as a fun side project (when I could not find a job) has turned into a passion for both of us. Much of our focus is on adventure activities. We explore natural wonders, amazing hikes, & hidden gems no matter where we go. Thus far, we have lived in 12 states and 15 cities. We use no AI or stock photos, no affiliate links, and we do not take any sponsored trips. Everything we feature on our site has received an official nod of approval from us. We believe in focusing only on positive businesses and attractions we have encountered along the years, so this is what you will see on our site. Checked off National Parks #18 (Arches) and #19 Canyonlands this weekend. It was an exhausting 3 days of driving over 15 hours and hiking over 15 miles, but worth it!

We lucked out as both parks were pretty empty, so we enjoyed easy parking at the trailheads and laid-back scenic drives.

After living in Arizona for 5 years, I finally got to see the iconic sandstone formations of Monument Valley.

This was a fun roadstop on our long drive from Phoenix to Arches and Canyonlands National Park this weekend.

On a side note, the famous Forrest Gump scene where he stops running filmed here! It's called Forrest Gump hill and it is located on Mile Marker 13 on US Route 163 in Utah.

The Petrified Forest is one of the country's most unique National Parks. It's located in Northern Arizona, about 2 hours east of Flagstaff.

There is a 28 mile drive where you can enjoy scenic overlooks of the Painted Desert, several historic Rt. 66 sites, and many opportunities where you can take an upclose look at 200+ million year old wood which has been turned into fossils through permineralization. https://www.top-ten-travel-list.com/blog/arizona/the-petrified-national-forest-225-million-years-in-the-making/

Took an early morning drive at 6am along the gorgeous Moro Rock/Crescent Meadow Road drive at Sequoia National Park. It was so nice seeing more deer than people after 2 completely packed days at the park where it took us over 2 hours to find parking. Watch for the deer crossing the road in front of the ancient sequoias at the end of the video.

At Sequoia National Park, you can drive through a giant sequoia tree that fell down in 1935. A pretty cool activity to check off your bucket list!

I just checked National Parks #16 and #17 off my bucket list. It was a totally exhausting weekend with over 30 hours in the car, but worth it to see the oldest trees in the world! Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park are 2 of the most amazing places I've ever seen.

St. Augustine is a great vacation destination for history buffs. There is a lively historic district, beautiful old inns, and Castillo de San Marcos (the oldest masonry fort in the US).
