Top Ten Travel List Hi! We started our travel adventures way back in 2012, in a time when the majority of publications were only covering international travel. Hi.

We started the trend of organizing our info via lists. We spotlight both recreational & cultural attractions. I am Maureen and I am the writer and trip planner of Top Ten Travel List. My significant other, Mike, is the web developer and designer. We both spend our weekends traveling, hiking, exploring new cities, dining at local restaurants, taking daytrips, and uncovering hidden gems. We started this site over a decade ago to showcase wonderful places and hidden gems throughout the US. Back in the day, we noticed many travel bloggers only covered international travel. We wanted to show that you do not have to spend a lot of money to explore beautiful places in the US. America is home to so many of its' own treasures including world-class cultural attractions, stunning national parks, and amazing historic places. You do not need to feel pressured to travel internationally if you do not have the time or money. Mike and I are both originally from the Chicago metro. We have been moving and traveling across the US for 15 years now. What started as a fun side project (when I could not find a job) has turned into a passion for both of us. Much of our focus is on adventure activities. We explore natural wonders, amazing hikes, & hidden gems no matter where we go. Thus far, we have lived in 12 states and 15 cities. We use no AI or stock photos, no affiliate links, and we do not take any sponsored trips. Everything we feature on our site has received an official nod of approval from us. We believe in focusing only on positive businesses and attractions we have encountered along the years, so this is what you will see on our site. We love supporting local businesses no matter where we live or travel. Follow us as we discover more unique gems and timeless attractions across the US.

Mike & I took a weekend roadtrip up to Flagstaff to sadly see the last of the fall colors. We hiked the Kachina Trail and took some pictures at Aspen Corner, which surprisingly had more color left than we thought. It was so cool to see the fall foliage and snow capped mountains at the same time!

We also hiked the Fay Canyon trail (our initial pick - Boynton - was way too crowded). We finally found the Fay side arch which was pretty cool. On a side note, wow was this trail crowded! I remember hiking this back in the day and being the only car in the parking lot!

I finally hiked to the side arch on the Fay Canyon trail in Sedona. Fay is one of Sedona's shortest and easiest trails in my opinion - 100% worth putting on your bucket list!

The breathtaking drive along Dry Creek Road in Sedona to Boynton Canyon/Enchantment Resort. I really love the towering rock formations on this short drive!

You can walk through a massive fallen sequoia tree on the General Grant Tree trail at Kings Canyon National Park. This is a really short, easy trail where you will also be able to see the world's second largest tree (by volume).

I absolutely love the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville. I hiked the nature trails and explored the gorgeous gardens here at least twice a week while living in Asheville.

Highlights include: 10 miles of trails, an incredible bonsai garden with 50 specimens on display including many native to WNC, and a colorful Quilt Garden which changes along with the seasons.

This is one of my favorite leaf peeping spots in the Blue Ridge region. Colors typically peak sometime in late October. I especially loved seeing the fall foliage on the bonsai trees! https://www.top-ten-travel-list.com/blog/fall/autumn-at-the-north-carolina-arboretum/

Fall is the perfect time to explore Cuyahoga Valley, an underrated National Park just 30 min outside of Cleveland, Ohio. I love the quiet 3 mile hike to Blue Hen Falls - it's a great alternative to the more touristy Brandywine Falls.

The East Bay Inn is a gorgeous property in Savannah's historic district. I love the beautiful brick walls and prime location. You can easily walk to the riverfront and the iconic public squares (there are 22 remaining) from this hotel.

On a side note, this is one of the most haunted properties in the city which makes it a pretty cool stay during the Halloween season. A ghost named Charlie who fell from a 3rd story window is said to still haunt the property. I didn't sleep for 2 nights straight here, so either it is truly haunted or I was just scared from hearing all the ghost stories!

I love everything about the Halloween season. Check out these extravagant Halloween displays in suburban Phoenix. Both are located in the Santa Rita Ranch neighborhood in Mesa. Most of the houses go all out with crazy decor!
