Mother Nature has her ways of bettering soil health, but when it gets neglected, Mother Nature doesn't feel sorry about it. The first picture is a roadway or bare spot equivalent to baling the cornstalks. The second picture is all the residue capturing all the snow's moisture and nutrients.
