On Tuesday, our much-loved Silver Belle delivered her long-awaited cria, a precious little girl we named Belle’s Blessing.
Many of you know Silver Belle. She was born right here at Laughing Llama Farm, and over the years she has become one of those special animals that guests remember long after they leave. We receive cards, messages, questions from kids, and sweet follow-ups from families asking how their favorite llamas are doing. Silver Belle is very much loved by all of us, and by so many of you too.
Belle’s Blessing was born with a condition called wry face, and despite the care, hope, and attention surrounding this little one’s arrival, the cria did not survive.
This is one of the hardest parts of loving and caring for animals. There is so much joy in farm life — the births, the personalities, the bonds, the funny moments, the quiet trust built over time. But there are also heartbreaking days like this, when the outcome is not what we prayed for.
We know many of you were waiting for this baby right along with us, and we wanted to share the news with tenderness and honesty. Silver Belle is being closely watched and cared for, and she is surrounded by love here at the farm.
Stewardship means showing up for all of it — the beautiful parts and the painful parts. Even in the sadness, we are grateful for the love Belle’s Blessing already had, for the people who care so deeply about our animals, and for the privilege of caring for them every single day.
Thank you for loving Silver Belle, Belle’s Blessing, and our farm family the way you do.
Much love,
Bonnie ❤️
