Memorial Day 2025. This weekend was a pivotal one. It’s the first weekend we’ve visited Hot Springs in 3 years just for fun - meaning Craig didn’t work on the house all day and then join us for dinner at night. Every day we’ve been here before he was up by 8 and out of the hotel room in his grubby work clothes and came back exhausted and filthy about 6.

But this weekend the house is wrapping up. There aren’t major projects that need crews. Craig had his own to-do list to work on but Saturday he literally stayed in bed and watched TV all day. I’m so glad.

I can tell he doesn’t really know what to do with himself. He doesn’t feel right in his own skin. He says he’s excited to get to enjoy vacation now and rest but we all know that “enjoying” means working to him. He seems restless and looking for the next project, not really wanting this one to be over. But he’s also getting older and realizing that it might be nice to just do nothing a little bit. I’m very glad for that and I’m excited to see what comes next. It feels like we’re starting a new chapter.
