We have a new program! It's called DOGGY DAY OUT!

You can take one of our shelter dogs for a few hours or the day! Take someone who it looking for their furever home about town so folks see them, take LOTS of pictures of you having fun together on your social media and help us place them.

It's a win win situation. The dogs get a break from the shelter, they get to go bye-bye, get a walk and perhaps a pup cup. Your interactions with them help us build their bios and show us how they act outside the shelter.

FOSTER: We have a few long term residents at the shelter that we'd love to find foster homes for. They are our harder cases in that they don't do well with other animals (or at least don't here at the shelter). If you are that special person who has the ability to show our pups love, kindness and empathy while working with them - we'd love to hear from you!

We need folks immediately to help at the Thrift Store on Colbalt Road, next to the Laundromat to put items out for sale, sort donations and the like.

Sharing with your customers and community will help us spread the word and get more of our rescued animals adopted. I love this.

I always thought it would be a great idea to have a fresh food and veggies bus to go into food deserts.

A local nonprofit is trying to make a difference in the lives of those people experiencing homelessness here in our community.

WHAT?
SOS - Calling all Mountain peeps who have ever said "I'd like to foster or folks who haven't considered it seriously before but are curious.

I'm not gonna lie, it can be an adjustment having to consider potty breaks/meal times in your daily social routine instead of having the ultimate freedom to come and go whenever. But, I can also promise you it's extremely rewarding and worth it when you get some couch snuggles or a greeting when you return home after 2 hours and they act like you've been gone 5 years.

WHO?
We'd love to get fosters for some of our long term residents like Logan, Riley, Ritchie, Damon, Candy and Missy. Just being in an actual home with a chance to be loved will reduce their stress. And when they have exposure to more people they have a bigger likelihood to be adopted. All the dogs I have mentioned have been with us since AT LEAST 2022. Logan has been with us since 2019.

Foster homes are so important to our shelter work. We took in 50 kittens this month only because we have a wonderful cat foster crew. We don't have that with our dogs. Come pick out someone to take into your home and love on until they find their furever home!

WHY?
All our pups and kitties deserve a shot to go to a good home and you can literally save a life by opening up your home and your heart. Teaching them how to be out of the shelter and a dog in a home is a huge start to getting them placed.

Castoff Pet Rescue Shelter and Thrift Store Blairsville has had the good fortune of receiving dog and cat food donations from Walmart.

We unloaded 8 pallets last week and we are feeling so fortunate to be able to share the wealth.

We donated some more to Wonderland Sanctuary, Sue at ARFS and Victoria at Whiskers Project. I am going meet Carl today to offload some more.

It takes a village and we are pleased as punch to work with these groups.
