Let’s take a lunchtime mosey… 🌼🦎🍇

Saw lots of flowers, lizards, spicebush caterpillars, and buffets of ripe beauty berries for the birds. Couldn’t get a photo but we also saw a couple Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies, a Green Heron and Belted Kingfisher near the waters edge. What a treat. 😍

Something we really enjoy and prioritize on the property is landscaping/gardening for pollinators and wildlife using native plants. 🌱 🦋

Over time, we plan to replace most of our non-native ornamental plants with natives (don’t worry, we are leaving the azaleas and camellias). We have quite a few butterfly and pollinator garden plans for our guest cabins that we can’t wait to start come fall.

Our large cabin comfortably sleeps up to eight people and has a stunning forested view of the river. The large wraparound screened-in porch is the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to the birds. ☕️

Back in April we had some hungry guests! 🐛

We counted over 30 hungry monarch caterpillars on our native milkweed plants at one point. Most of our milkweed was eaten down to sticks! Once the caterpillars were big enough, they scattered to find a safe spot to begin their transformation into a chrysalis.

A couple weeks later, we found some beautiful adult monarchs! 🦋

Try a WFH day away from home... Did you know that our brains are wired for nature? Studies have shown that our brains operate differently in natural environments, and that immersing yourself in nature is a potent antidote to the chronic stress of modern life. Deadlines and computer tasks are the part of many jobs, but why not use a screened-in patio or a dock with a view as your desk? 💻☀

Rent one of our mini cabins for the productive boost and peaceful office you deserve. Enjoy a private screened-in patio and boardwalk access to the dock. There is no better space to accomplish those tasks than with the fresh air, free Wifi, and bird song to cheer you on. Fluorescent lights? No, thank you. 🍃
