It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Elias.

Elias was only 17 years old, but in those 17 years he made an impact on so many people. He was one of those young people who always seemed to be around, ready to laugh, ready to have a good time, and ready to make memories with the people around him.

When he wasn’t a camper, he made sure he was at camp as a worker, ready to be involved however he can. He wasn’t just someone who came to enjoy the campground, he became a part of it.

This year, Elias had already raised $1,000 to become a Mission Mover. That says something about the kind of young man he was. He wanted to make a difference. He wanted to help others. He was willing to work for something bigger than himself.

Elias will be deeply missed by Illinois Youth Ministries, by the countless young people and leaders who knew him, and by everyone who had the privilege of sharing a moment, a laugh, or a memory with him.

Our hearts and prayers are with Elias’ family, his friends, and his church family during this unimaginable time.
