The forest was quiet when the bells rang for the very first time. Out from between the tall trees stepped two unlikely heroes—wildebeest, steady and strong, their breath puffing in the cool night air. Behind them rolled a bright red sleigh piled high with gifts and glowing with golden trim.

Santa laughed warmly from his seat, giving the reins a gentle shake. “Easy now, my brave travelers,” he said. The wildebeest moved forward together, hooves whispering over the frosted grass as if they had pulled sleighs all their lives.

Children across the countryside awoke that Christmas to sounds they’d never heard before—not reindeer hooves, but the deep, steady rhythm of wildebeest steps. And when morning came, they found their gifts waiting… along with hoofprints far larger than any reindeer could leave.
